    Substitute Teaching

    The substitute teacher applications are processed in the order in which they are received. Applications must be complete and approved before the substitute can start. You will be contacted when your application starts the approval process. When approved, you will receive notification inviting you to a required  substitute orientation.

    Thank you for your interest in Substitute Teaching for Union County Public Schools. Requirements to apply: Applicants must have a valid or expired teaching license from any state in the United States or documentation of a two or four year college degree. Any exceptions to these requirements must be requested by a principal and approved by Human Resources. All substitute teacher applicants must have a satisfactory criminal records check and a NC State Health Examination Certificate on file before being approved by the Union County Board of Education.

    For former UCPS teachers who would like to substitute teach, you will need to fill out a substitute application on the UCPS website, as this is a new position.  If you have been separated from UCPS for over one year, a new NC State Health Certificate Form is required with your application.
