Three generations of students bid Piedmont Middle teacher farewell
After 40 years of teaching, Dr. Karen Barbee is retiring. She spent 38 of those years primarily as a science, health and physical education teacher at Piedmont Middle School. She also taught math, reading, and social studies during her first years at the school.

Class of 2022: An internship changed her path
Some experiences can change your life's path. Senior Andrea Burns had planned to major in business administration at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. A semester-long internship at Scott Clark Toyota led her to reconsider her major. Andrea now plans to study marketing and minor in Spanish.

Two Piedmont High School seniors have chosen to help others by pursuing careers in medicine and public safety, thanks to their school's nurse aide and firefighter academies. Participating in the academies has enabled them to obtain certificates that they can use to gain employment or to advance their education or professions.
